Tamil actor Kaarthi, met me in the DGP Office Complex when I was Deputy Superintendent of Police (Communications) and sought advice as to his making of a film “Pookkadai Police Station”. We discussed legal and Police points. Subsequently, I did not hear anything from him for quite a long time. Suddenly. One day he came to me and said that he is acting as a hero in the film titled “Paruthi Veeran” and added that if the film succeeds, he will choose to be an actor instead of directing films. I have seen this film along with my wife and children; After Thiru Sivaji Ganesan, the legendary Tamil actor, only Kaarthi scored many centuries in his debut film; everybody immersed in the film and came out of the theatre with tears. Such a wonderful actor Kaarthi is. After 14 years, as I acted with Kaarthi in the film “Dheeran Athikaaram Ondru” in which I offered my advice to the Director H. Vinoth in making a Police film.

The title “Immoral Traffic – Prostitution in India”, released in 2006 became an instant hit among all the stakeholders, and the UNICEF Chennai supported the Tamil Nadu Police by providing 2500 copies of the book. In the epilogue of this title, I have narrated the sufferings of a father who had lost his daughter and finally found her in a brothel den in Sonagachi Kolkata; imagine the plight of this father. Ulaga Nayagan, actor Kamal Haasan gave life to this father character, and if anybody who saw the movie “Maha Nadi” has not broken down, he is not deemed to be a human being. Such an incredible realistic performance by Kamal. Moved by his social concern, I met Thiru Kamal Haasan in his Eldams Road residence and presented a copy of this book.

During my College days, I was indeed a fan of the ester years Super Writer Thiru Sujatha, and there were fights between my St. Xavier’s College Hostel friends to have a first glimpse of Sujatha’s writings in the weeklies. Through my friend Dr Ravi, I also became acquainted with the famous scholar and writer Thiru Sujatha; One day, I met Thiru Rangarajan @ Sujatha in his residence at Mylapore and presented the book “Immoral Traffic – Prostitution in India”; immediately his wife Tmt Sujatha, in whose nickname he wrote his work, snatched this book from his hand stating that she will give it back only after she finishes the reading; she further said that as she is a sociology student she wanted to read first. About three weeks afterwards, Thiru Sujatha wrote about me and my book in the column “Kandathum Kettathum” in Ananda Vikatan, the famous Tamil weekly magazine.

Thiru R.K. Raghavan, IPS was my first Superintendent of Police, when I took independent charge as Sub-Inspector of Police in Ramanathapuram West District in 1978. He was humane, honest and upright Police Officer and always encouraged the newcomers to the Police Department and my batchmates felt very comfortable under his leadership. I derived inspiration from his way of approach in dealing with good and evil. Later, he became Director General of Police and served as the Director, Central Bureau of Investigation, India. I met him in the TCS office, as he was then Vice President TCS after his retirement, and presented this book on “Immoral Traffic”. He not only encouraged me but wrote to all DGPs of India mentioning my book.
