About TN Group-I Services
The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission, conducts the examination at regular intervals, at least once in two years, for the direct recruitment to the vacancies in the following posts included in CCS-I Examination (Group-I Services): -
- 1. Deputy Collector in the Tamil Nadu Civil Service
- 2. Deputy Superintendent of Police (Category-I) in the Tamil Nadu Police Service
- 3. Assistant Commissioner (C.T.) in the Tamil Nadu Commercial Taxes Service
- 4. Deputy Registrar of Co-operative Societies in the Tamil Nadu Co-operative Service
- 5. District Registrar in the Tamil Nadu Registration Service
- 6. Assistant Director of Rural Development in the Tamil Nadu in the Panchayat Development Service
- 7. District Employment Officer in the Tamil Nadu General Service
- 8. District Officer (Fire and Rescue Services) in the Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services
- (a) Preliminary Exam with objective type questions for 3 hours with 200 questions for 300 maximum marks
- (b) Main Exam will be conducted in 3 Papers in General Studies each with 250 marks
- (c) Interview and Records - there will be 100 marks Date of Preliminary Examination for the year 2019 is already over on 03.03.2019 and Date of Main Written Examination will be announced later at the time of declaring results of Preliminary Examination.
The examination will be conducted in three stages:
A person who is appointed as a Group I Officer in the State Service (other than the Police Service) may be conferred with IAS after completion of 10 to 12 years of Service usually; likewise, a person appointed as a Police Officer in the Group I Service may be conferred with IPS after completion of the same years of service, if he is otherwise qualified as per norms fixed by the UPSC

TNPSC 2019 examination will be conducted in three stages: Preliminary Exam with objective type questions for 3 hours with 200 questions for 300 maximum marks, Main Exam will be conducted in 3 Papers in General Studies each with 250 marks and Interview and Records - there will be 100 marks
