INDIAMr. V. Sithannan, a Post Graduate in Law and Superintendent of Police (Retd), has worked in Crime, Law & Order and Intelligence wing in Chennai Police and Vigilance Departments of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board, Tamil Nadu Registration Department and Chennai Corporation for more than 35 years. He was Deputy Commissioner of Police, Adyar District in Chennai Police, Superintendent of Police Coastal Security and Principal, Tamil Nadu Police Academy. He used to deliver lectures on various topics in Police Training College, Directorate of Prosecution, Dr. Ambedkar Law College Chennai, Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Tamil Nadu Judicial Academy and Indira Gandhi National Open University.
He was awarded with 3 gold medals and 4 silver medals in the State Police Duty Meet, and one bronze medal in the All India Police Duty Meet and a recipient of the Hon'ble Chief Minister's Medal for Meritorious Police Service.
During his tenure in the Police Training College, he authored a book "Guide to Crime Investigation"? and came out with a handout "Investigation of Offences under the IT (P) Act". He used to contribute articles to CB CID Crime Review on various topics of interest.
UNICEF, Chennai recognised the title "Immoral Traffic Prostitution in India" (2006) authored by Mr. V. Sithannan and supported Tamil Nadu Police by providing 2200 copies.
He played an active role in drafting the Tamil Nadu Police Act, 2008 and was deputed to be a member of the team in BPR&D, New Delhi for editing the 'Model All India Police Manual'. Also he is a member of the team for editing and amending the Tamil Nadu Police Standing Orders. He is also a member of the Rules Amending Committee for amending the Rules under the Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection of Children) Act.
